The Tree Board shall monitor the following at the request of the Parks and Recreation Commission:
(A) Trees that are publicly-owned or maintained on public property;
(B) Prioritize an annual forestry plan which identifies the recommended tree species, quantity, purchase size, estimated cost and proposed planting location of trees to be planted on public property; the annual forestry plan to be prepared by city staff, reviewed and prioritized by the Tree Board for recommendation to the Parks and Recreation Commission, prior to or as part of the city’s annual budget development process, and approved by the City Council prior to purchasing and/or planting; and the annual plan shall constitute the Tree Board’s forestry plan for that planting season. The annual plan by the Tree Board may supplement the regular fiscal year plan prepared and implemented by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department;
(C) Sponsorship of an annual community tree event;
(D) Sponsorship of an annual public education effort related to forestry concerns;
(E) Seek partnerships with utilities or other sponsors for the forestation of public property; and
(F) Additional activities directed to the Tree Board from the Parks and Recreation Commission and/or the City Council.
