The moneys required to be deposited under the provision of this chapter are levied as regulation and inspection fees to cover the costs involved in the inspection, installation, operation, control and use of metered parking zones and parking spaces where parking meters have been installed and for any other general purpose of maintaining the parking zones and meters. Such moneys shall be deposited in a parking meter fund for this purpose.
