(a) The Inspector shall advise the Mayor concerning the zoning condition of the Municipality and shall be required to examine and inspect all building and zoning permits, and if approved, shall countersign the permits. He shall physically inspect any and all new construction to make sure that the construction does not violate the conditions of the permit or any provisions of the City Zoning Ordinance. He shall also inspect and police, within the corporation limits, any and all areas of the City to make sure that all of the provisions of the Zoning Ordinance, Building Permit Ordinance and State laws are being followed. Upon observation of a zoning or building permit violation, a report of such infraction shall be made in writing to the Mayor. The Inspector shall be required to work a minimum of one-half day per week. He shall perform such other duties, consistent with his office, as may be required by the Mayor, Council or ordinance or resolution of Council.
(b) The establishment of the position of Zoning Inspector shall in no way affect the power of the Administrative Officer to enforce the Zoning Ordinance, as the position of Zoning Inspector is declared to be an administrative position only, answerable to the Mayor.
