123.01 POLICE PROSECUTOR.
   (a)   Appointment; Term. There is hereby created the office of Police Prosecutor, who shall be appointed by the Mayor. Such appointment shall be confirmed by a majority vote of the members of Council. The Police Prosecutor’s term of office shall be during the term of office of the Mayor, however, the Mayor may remove the Police Prosecutor from office, without cause, with the consent of a majority of the members of Council, or the Police Prosecutor may be removed from office, without cause, by the affirmative vote of six of the members elected to Council, without the consent of the Mayor. The rate of compensation of the Police Prosecutor shall be fixed by ordinance passed by Council, and may be increased or decreased by Council at any time, and shall be paid eighty percent by the City treasury and twenty percent by the County treasury.
   (b)   Qualifications. The Police Prosecutor must have been duly admitted to the practice of law in the State of Ohio. The Police Prosecutor need not be a resident of the Municipality, but must be a resident of Wyandot County.
   (c)   Powers and Duties. The Police Prosecutor shall represent all political subdivisions within Wyandot County in the prosecution of all criminal acts falling under the category of misdemeanors coming before the Municipal Court of the City.
   Council may from time to time provide for such assistance and special counsel to the Police Prosecutor as it deems necessary.
