There is hereby created and established a Park and Recreation Board which shall consist of six members as hereinafter provided.
The Council shall elect by a majority vote of its members one Council Member to serve on the Park and Recreation Board. Said member of Council selected as a member of the Park and Recreation Board, shall serve during said member's respective term as a member of Council for a tenured two-year term.
The remaining five members of the Park and Recreation Board shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by a majority vote of the members elected to the Council for a term of five years each, provided however, that initially the first person appointed pursuant to this section shall be appointed for a one year term; the next member shall be appointed for a three year term; the next member shall be appointed for a four year term; and the final member shall be appointed for a five year term thus at the outset creating staggered terms.
Thereafter each new member upon assuming office shall be appointed for a five-year term and shall continue in office until said member's successor is appointed, confirmed and qualified.
Members of the Park and Recreation Board, other than the Council Member, shall not hold any other municipal office, appointment or employment, and shall be electors of the Municipality. (Approved by voters November 7, 1972; Amended November 8, 2022.)
