(a) Except where special permission is granted by the Water Department, each consumer must be supplied by an independent service pipe from the main. In case two or more parties are supplied with water from the same service pipe if either of such parties fails to pay the water rent when due or to comply with any rule of the Water Department, the Water Department may turn off the water from such pipe until the rent is paid and the rules strictly complied with.
(b) Service pipe from the Water Department’s main to the consumer’s curb box must be furnished in copper in accordance with the ordinances of the City and maintained by and at the expense of the property owner. All service lines shall be installed at right angles to the curb and main must be provided with suitable curb cock, located on the inside of the curb; and also with suitable stop and waste cock approved by the Water Department, located just inside the building. No service pipe shall be laid in the same trench with drain or sewer pipes and less than three feet from sewer drains.
(c) The Water Department shall presume service as being rendered from the time the water is turned on at the request of the consumer until the consumer gives notice to the Water Department to discontinue the service, and charges shall be made accordingly.
(d) The Water Department reserves the right at any time with due notice, except in case of breaks or any emergency, to shut off the water in the mains for the purpose of making repairs or extensions, or for other necessary purposes, and all persons having boilers on their premises not supplied by tanks are hereby cautioned against danger of explosion.
(e) The service may be discontinued for violation of the application or contract or any rule of the Water Department.
