The township may elect to apply § A261-83A with respect to any plan year ending after December 31, 1982, by calculating the denominator under § A261-80 using an alternate amount for all plan years ending before January 1, 1983. The alternate amount shall be equal to the amount determined for the denominator under § A261-80 as in effect for the plan year ending in 1982 multiplied by the transition fraction. The transition fraction shall be a fraction determined as follows:
A. The numerator shall consist of the lesser of:
(1) Fifty-one thousand eight hundred seventy-five dollars; or
(2) Thirty-five percent of the member's limitation compensation for the plan year ending in 1981.
B. The denominator shall consist of the lesser of:
(1) Forty-one thousand five hundred dollars; or
(2) Twenty-five percent of 'the member's limitation compensation for the plan year ending in 1981.
