Curbs and sidewalks constructed in accordance with the requirements of the ordinances of the Township of Upper Dublin shall be as follows:
A. Curbs. Curbs shall be constructed to conform to Class A concrete curb in accordance, except as noted below, with specifications as set forth in Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Form 408, for plain, cement or concrete curb, and shall be eight inches wide, tapered to seven inches at the top in curb, and shall be eight inches, and 18 inches deep, formed front and back for the full depth. Upon removal of the forms and correction of the minor surface irregularities, the concrete shall be sprayed with an approved white pigmented curbing compound. Where it is deemed advisable by the Public Works Committee of the Board of Commissioners of Upper Dublin Township, due to grades or ground conditions, an additional depth of six inches shall be excavated and coarse stone shall be laid in the trench and well tamped before constructing the curb. One-fourth-inch expansion joints of premolded asphalt shall be placed at intervals not exceeding 30 feet and at all changes of grade and at ends or curved sections. Curbs are to be in uniform lengths or blocks of 10 feet, being separated during construction by sheet steel templates 1/8 inch thick conforming to the size of the curbing, to be placed vertical and removed as soon as the concrete develops initial set. The upper edge of the curbing shall be finished with a round nosing with a radius of one inch. [Amended 1-10-1995 by Ord. No. 879]
B. Sidewalks Sidewalks, as required by the ordinances of the Township of Upper Dublin, shall be constructed of the same type of concrete as required for curbs in this article. The thickness shall be at least four inches. However, the areas to be used for driveways shall have a minimum thickness of six inches, and they shall be cured, as the curb is to be cured, using an approved white pigmented curbing compound. C. All concrete curbs and concrete sidewalks shall be constructed of concrete having a minimum compressive strength of 3,300 pounds per square inch when tested at 28 days; the costs of such a test or tests shall be borne by the owner, except that the requirement of the test may be waived when concrete is supplied by a producer of concrete employing a registered professional engineer certifying the minimum strength of each batch of concrete manufactured.
