A. Gravity collection and interceptors. The wastewater collection system within Upper Dublin Township includes an extensive interceptor system to convey collected wastewater to the various sewage treatment plants serving the Township.
(1) Ambler WWTP Collection System. There are three gravity connections to the Ambler WWTP collection system from Upper Dublin Township and there are five primary collection areas within the Ambler WWTP/Upper Dublin Township collection area. The areas are: Willow Avenue/Tennis Road, Hagues Mill Road/Butler Pike, Argyle Avenue, the 18" interceptor, and the 12" interceptor.
(a) The Willow Avenue/Tennis Avenue Area serves the Willowmere, Arrowhead, and Rose Valley areas.
(b) The Hague’s Mill Road/Butler Pike Area includes approximately 7,150 LF of collection sewer lines and serves Rose Valley, a portion of Bethlehem Pike, and Cedar Wood.
(c) The Argyle Avenue Area collection system includes almost 22,000 LF of sewer lines and serves a portion of Butler Pike, Fairview Avenue, Meadowbrook Avenue, Douglass Street, Argyle Avenue, Loch Alsh Avenue, Ardross Avenue, Linwold Terrace, Cedar Road, Booth Lane, Heather Road, Hoffman Road, Lake Drive and a portion of Susquehanna Road to a 10" sewer off Woodland Avenue.
(d) The 18" interceptor includes over 38,000 LF of 8" pipe, 2,650 LF of 16" pipe, and 10,370 LF of 18" pipe. The collection system serves both a gravity collection area and flows pumped from the Tennis Avenue Pumping Station, the Butler Pike Pumping Station, the Maple Glen Pumping Station, the Welsh Road Pumping Station and the Meetinghouse Road Pumping Station. The gravity collection area includes: Joel Drive, Russell Place, Tanneries Run, Jonathan Way, Denton Drive, a portion of Susquehanna Road, the Woods Apartments, Tanneries Woods Townhouses, a portion of Loch Lash Avenue, Schiavone Drive, Van Sant Lane, Melissa Drive, Windsor Place, Shady Place, Thelma Lane, a portion of Highland Avenue, St. Mary’s Manor, Villa Drive, Bellaire Avenue, a portion of Bethlehem Pike, Inverness Avenue, Stuart Creek Farms, Brookwood Drive, Randolph Avenue, Glencoe Avenue, a portion of Hartranft and Prospect Avenues, Ellerslie Avenue, Stuart Lane, Bannockburn Avenue, Renfrew Avenue, Trinity Place and Church Road. The 18" interceptor connects to the Ambler WWTP collection system on Church Road below Main Street.
(e) The 12" interceptor includes 2,800 LF of 12" pipe, 1,000 LF of 10" pipe, and 14,650 LF of 8" pipe. The collection system serves both a gravity collection area and flows pumped from the Commerce Drive Pumping Station. The gravity collection area includes: Orchard Lane, a portion of Ambler Road, a portion of Bethlehem Pike and Fort Washington Avenue, Washington Lane, Elliger Avenue, Locust Road, and portions of Prospect, Spring, and Montgomery Avenues. The 12" interceptor connects to the Ambler WWTP collection system adjacent to the railroad west of Ambler Road.
(2) Abington WWTP Collection System. The Abington WWTP is located within Upper Dublin Township. Two 18" interceptors are commonly shared between the two municipalities. A third 10" interceptor is located between Lenape Drive and the plant and serves Upper Dublin Township. The two 18" interceptors are located in Fitzwatertown Road, east and west of the plant. The areas served by the Abington WWTP can be divided into three areas, Meter No.1, Meter No 2, and the unmetered.
(a) The Meter No.1 area includes flows from the eastern 18" interceptor and the 10" interceptor. The service area includes gravity collection areas and flows pumped from the Sandy Run Pumping Station, Ayr Lane Pumping Station and the Dreshertown Road Pumping Station. The gravity collection area includes: Afton Road, Lenape Drive, Alpin Drive, Duncan Drive, Glen Burnie Drive, Dundee Drive, Ori Place, a portion of Twining Road, Bum Brae Drive and Woodside Court.
(b) The Meter No.2 area includes flows from the western 18" interceptor. The service area includes gravity collection areas and flows pumped from the Malcolm Drive Pumping Station and Abington’s Kimbal Drive Pumping Station. Wastewater flows from the Meter No. 2 location (Fitzwatertown Road Woodland Road intersection) into Abington Township. The wastewater ultimately flows back into Upper Dublin Township via the western 18" interceptor and into the Abington WWII plant. The gravity collection area includes: a portion of Fitzwatertown Road and Kimbal Road, Alba Road, Willow Avenue, School Lane, Woodland Road, and Bernard Avenue.
(c) The third area served by the Abington WWTP is unmetered. The unmetered flows include wastewater from Abington’s North Hill Pumping Station and the Fitzwatertown Road/North Hills Avenue area including the following roadways: North Hills Avenue, Eastview Drive, Chapel Road, Northview Drive, Lukens Avenue, Quarry Road, Avenues “G”, “H”
(3) UMHJSA Terwood Road STP Collection System. The collection system located in Upper Dublin Township owned, operated and maintained by UMHJSA, and tributary to the UMHJSA STP is located between the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Fitzwatertown Road near Welsh Road. The collection system contains approximately 21,100 LF of 8" pipe. There are approximately 383 customers in Upper Dublin Township tributary to the UMHJSA STP. The customers include: The Prudential Office Complex, the Upper Dublin Township Shopping Center, and residential customers.
(4) Springfield Township/Philadelphia SW STP Collection System. The Upper Dublin Township collection system tributary to Springfield Township and ultimately the Philadelphia SW STP is located in the southwest portion of the Township. The collection system consists of approximately 44,300 LF of 8" pipe and two pumping stations (Twining Valley Road Pumping Station and the Camp Hill Road Pumping Station). The collection system also includes a 61 unit low pressure collection system in the Applewood, Crestview, and Leah Drives area. Flows enter into Springfield Township in three locations.
(a) The first connection is located on Pennsylvania Avenue across from Mill Road and serves portions of Mill Road, Garden Road, and Manor Place, Oreland Place, Cannon Place, Jackson Avenue, Girard Avenue, Logan Avenue and a portion of Linden Avenue.
(b) The second connection is located on Pennsylvania Avenue across from Baal Avenue and serves the Twining/Valley Pumping Station in addition to Weld Avenue, Baal Avenue, Ape Avenue, and portions of Twining Road, Washman Avenue, Orlando Avenue and Lafayette Avenue.
(c) The third connection is also on Pennsylvania Avenue outside of the Township boundary, between Camp Hill Road and Belmont Avenue. The collection system serves portions of Washman Avenue, Lafayette Avenue, Orlando Avenue, and Rich Avenue, Belmont Avenue, the Apple wood, Crestview, Leah Drives low pressure system, Winner Way, Wordsworth Academy and portions of Camp Hill and Dreshertown Roads.
