(a) In any multiple dwelling hereafter erected, each dwelling unit shall contain not less than 500 square feet of floor area having a clear ceiling height of not less than seven feet six inches.
(b) Any dwelling unit produced by the remodeling or other alteration of any existing multiple dwelling shall likewise meet the requirement of division (a) hereof.
