The Technology Advisory Commission shall serve to advise the Civic Information Committee of Council and shall have the following duties and responsibilities:
(a) Recommend general policies relating to the operation and uses of technological tools and services with a view toward maximizing the diversity of services to users.
(b) Monitor and review state-of-the-art and related information, policies and regulations for information utilization by the City.
(c) Recommend the activation of additional cable access channels when necessary.
(d) Encourage the use of internet access and communication such as the City's website, and access channels, among the widest range of individuals, groups, and institutions within the City.
(e) Encourage internet links and operations with universities, museums and other institutions located within the City or in neighboring communities for the enrichment of the quality and diversity of internet/access channel programming.
(f) Produce programs as specifically directed by the Civic Information Committee, for the University Heights Internet website using current online tools, and for airing on the access cable channel time provided to the City pursuant to the franchise agreement with any cable television provider.

The Technology Advisory Commission shall be of an advisory nature only; nothing herein shall be construed to abridge, invade, supplant or change any of those powers specifically allotted to the boards or commissions of the City.

(a) The officer of the Technology Advisory Commission shall be a Chairperson appointed by the Mayor.
(b) Each member of the Commission shall serve a term of two years, to coincide with municipal elections, and may be reappointed.
(c) By-laws of the Commission may be adopted by the Commission subject to approval of Council.

The Technology Advisory Commission shall meet at least four times each year with all meetings being open to the public unless specifically exempted under the State's Sunshine Laws or the Codified Ordinances of the City.
