(A) Communications Committee Chairman. The Communications Committee Chairman is responsible to oversee all city communications and city event marketing. This Commissioner is to work with the Director of Communications and Operations to develop city communications and city events. The developed city communications/event programs are then brought to the City Commission for final approval. Additionally, the Communications Committee has up to one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) spending authority for communications/event purposes; anything above this amount requires City Commission approval.
(B) Economic Development Committee (EDC) Chairman.
(1) The EDC Chairman is responsible to head the EDC. The EDC is responsible to community input to the development of city growth, including development of the city town plan. This Committee will provide input on projects that have been publically announced and help guide the said projects through the Boone County Planning Commission’s (BCPC) recommendations for city approval.
(2) When contractors and/or land owners approach the city about developing specific properties on a confidential basis, the Mayor, Economic Development Committee (EDC) Chairman, and the City Administrator will work together to move said development forward. When it is ready for publication, then the EDC Committee will work to move the project to completion.
(C) Finance Committee Chairman. After the city budget submitted by the Mayor to the City Commission, it is the responsibility of the Finance Committee Chairman to review payments made by the City Clerk for each budget line item to make sure they are correct and justified. Then, report monthly his or her review to the City Commission.
(D) Public Works Committee (PWC) Chairman. The PWC Chairman is responsible to head the PWC. The PWC is responsible for all city public work projects, including street repair/maintenance/upkeep, lawn care, garbage pick, snow removal, and any other public works projects.
The City Engineer (who works administratively for the City Administrator) serves on this committee, Additionally, the PWC has up to one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) spending authority for public works purposes; anything above this amount requires City Commission approval.
