A participating member of the Police Department or his or her family, shall receive temporary disability benefits, permanent disability benefits, death benefits, survivor benefits, and any other benefits as specifically defined and established by IC 36-8-6. This section shall not apply to benefits for surviving spouses of Police Officers covered under the 1977 Police Officers’ and Firefighters’ Pension and Disability Fund set out in IC 36-8-8 or any amendments thereto.
