(A) The reserve police officer shall receive compensation for time lost from other employment, because of court appearances arising as a result of the officer's action as a reserve police officer. The compensation shall be in an amount equal to the amount which the officer would have earned had he or she spent the same amount of time at his or her primary employment.
(B) The reserve may be insured for life and accident insurance.
