505.02 IMPOUNDING AND DISPOSITION; RECORDS.
   (a)   A police officer or animal warden may impound every dog, cat or other animal found in violation of Section 505.01. Upon impoundment, the police officer or animal warden shall deliver such dog, cat or other animal to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter where it will be held for a minimum period of seventy-two hours during which time the owner may redeem such dog, cat or other animal at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter by paying those fees as established by Montgomery County and obtaining, if necessary, a valid registration tag. After the minimum seventy-two hour holding period such animals may be disposed of at the Animal Shelter. The payment of any fee and redemption of the impounded animal shall not be a bar to prosecution under this section.

   (b)   A record of all dogs impounded, the disposition of the same, the owner’s name and address where known, and a statement of any costs assessed against the dogs shall be kept by any poundkeeper.
