§ 3.60.020 GIFTS AND GRATUITIES.
It shall be the responsibility of each city employee to remain free from indebtedness or favors which would tend to create a conflict of interest between personal and official interests, or which might reasonably be interpreted as affecting the impartiality of the individual employee. If an employee is tendered or offered a gift or gratuity which would, in the eyes of the public, be construed to be an attempt to bribe, influence or to encourage special consideration with respect to city operations, such offer shall be reported without delay to the employee’s immediate superior who in turn will inform the Department Director. If any employee shall knowingly accept any gift or gratuity that creates the appearance of undue influence or that result in special considerations benefiting the giver, then that employee may be disciplined and/or dismissed from the city service as determined by the City Manager.
