(a) "Solicitor", "canvasser", "salesman" or "peddler" means any person who solicits funds for any purpose whatsoever, or who sells or offers for sale within the City any goods or chattels of any kind or description by the use of the telephone, by going from door to door or from place to place through the public streets of the City, taking such goods or chattels with him or who sells by subscription or by taking orders for future delivery by any means or methods whatsoever. This definition shall not apply to persons selling agricultural articles or products offered for sale by the producer or mail; bakery or produce delivery trucks; to minors under the age of eighteen; or to local charitable organizations.
