(a) There is hereby established a volunteer fire company to supplement and assist the regular Fire Department of the City on calls within the city.
(b) This company shall be known as the Uhrichsville Volunteer Fire Company and shall consist of not more than fifteen members. Officers shall consist of a Captain, lieutenant, secretary and treasurer who shall be elected by the members of the Company, subject to the approval of the Director of Safety.
(c) The Volunteer Fire Company shall hold one regular business meeting each month. Any member failing to attend the regular meetings for three consecutive months, unless a reasonable excuse is given to the Chief of the Fire Department, shall be suspended from membership.
(d) The Chief of the Fire Department shall arrange a schedule of drills and instruction periods at which time the volunteers shall be given practical instructions in fire fighting and the use of the equipment used by the Department. Such drills shall be organized by the Chief assisted by the Captain. Whenever the Chief may think it essential or upon instructions from the Director of Safety, these drills and periods of instructions shall be conducted.
(e) Each member shall be paid as provided by Council from time to time.
(f) If City finances appropriated for special firemen become exhausted, or for any other reason that may be imperative, the Director of Safety may reduce, furlough, or place on the inactive list any member of such Volunteer Company with regard to seniority and/or with consideration as to the regularity of answering fire calls. Any member so furloughed or placed on the inactive list shall be removed from the payroll.
(g) The headquarters of the Volunteer Company shall be at Fire Department headquarters. All members when on duty shall be governed by the rules and regulations for the regular Fire Department members.
