The Board of County Commissioners expressly recognizes hereby that the primary purpose of any speed ordinance is to maintain traffic and highway safety upon the highways of this County. In compliance with Idaho Code section 49-207 the local highway districts have determined that many of the highways are rural in nature and not designed for high speeds, and thus subject to potentially dangerous occurrences due to misuse, excessive speed, or adverse weather conditions.
A. Limit Established: The speed limit on all highways in Twin Falls County, unless otherwise posted, is hereby established at fifty (50) miles per hour pursuant to Idaho Code sections 49-207 and 49-208.
B. Penalty: The penalty for violation of this Section is hereby declared to be an infraction, punishable as set forth in rule 9 of the Idaho Infraction Rules contained in the Idaho Code. (Ord. 147, 1-26-1998)
