§ 33.01 CHIEF OF POLICE.
   The Chief of Police shall hold his office for any period of time not exceeding the term of office of the Mayor making appointment and until his successor is appointed and qualified. The term of office of the Chief of Police shall be specified at the time of his appointment, or his term of office ends. In the event a Chief of Police is not reappointed, he shall have the option of taking a reduction in rank to a position to be designated by the Mayor. Such option shall be exercised, if at all, within ten days of such non- reappointment or end of term, including the qualification of his successor.
