Prior to the adoption of this chapter, there may be dwellings or dwelling units which do not comply with the provisions of this chapter. The Building Inspector shall make an initial inspection of all rental dwellings or dwelling units within the village to determine if any such violations exist. At such determination, the Building Inspector shall give notice and an order, as outlined in § 15-5-4, to the landlord, of the dwelling or dwelling unit to comply with the rules and regulations of this chapter by June 30, 1997. Any new work done on units after the adoption of this chapter must comply with the requirements of the State Uniform Dwelling Code, the State Plumbing Code, and the State Building and Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning Code, when such codes are applicable to the work being performed.
