(a) Code adopted. The International Property Maintenance Code, as published by the International Code Council, Inc., is hereby adopted as the property maintenance code of the village, and by reference is made a part of this chapter as if fully set forth herein. A copy of these property maintenance code provisions shall be kept on file in the Village Administrator’s, Clerk’s, or highest elected official’s, as appropriate, office. Any provision of the property maintenance code that is in conflict with an existing provision of the code of ordinances of the village shall be controlled by the provisions found in the property maintenance code.
(b) Exceptions. Nothing in this chapter or in the property maintenance code hereby adopted shall be construed to affect any suit or proceeding pending in any court, or any rights acquired, or liability incurred, or any cause or causes of action acquired or existing, under any act or ordinance hereby repealed by this chapter; nor shall any just or legal right or remedy of any character be lost, impaired, or affected by this chapter.
