§ 5-3-4 AUTOMATIC FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEMS FOR MULTI-FAMILY DWELLINGS.
   (a)   Definitions. For the purpose of this section, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates, or requires, a different meaning.
      AUTOMATIC FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM. Has the meaning given in Wis. Stats. § 145.01(2).
      DWELLING UNIT. Has the meaning given in Wis. Stats. § 101.61(1).
      HOTEL. An establishment which provides lodging and various personal services for the public.
      MOTEL. An establishment which provides lodging and parking, and in which the rooms are usually accessible from an outdoor parking area.
      MULTI-FAMILY DWELLING. An apartment building, townhouse, condominium, or manufactured building, as defined in Wis. Stats. § 101.71(6), that does not exceed 60 feet or six stories, and that consists of three or more attached dwelling units, the initial construction of which is begun on or after the effective date of this section. MULTI-FAMILY DWELLING does not include any facility whose operation requires a license, certification, certificate of approval, or permit under Wis. Stats. Chapter 50.
      OWNER. A person having a legal or equitable interest in a multi-family dwelling.
   (b)   Administrative code provisions adopted. The orders, rules, and regulations of Wis. Admin. Code, Chapter ILHR 57, as amended, are incorporated herein by reference and are adopted as part of this Section, and further restricted as follows.
      (1)   Sprinkler system required for multi-family dwellings. An automatic fire sprinkler system is required in every multi-family dwelling over two stories in height.
      (2)   Sprinkler system required for hotels/motels. An automatic fire sprinkler system shall be required for all motels or hotels over two stories in height.
