129.03 AUXILIARY POLICE UNIT.
   There is established an Auxiliary Police Unit under the Police Department of the City. The Director of Public Service and Safety shall be the executive head of such Auxiliary Police Unit; shall make all appointments and removals of auxiliary police officers, subject to the regulations herein prescribed; and shall prescribe additional rules and regulations for the organization, training, administration, control and conduct of such Auxiliary Police Unit. Such Auxiliary Police Unit shall be subject to the following regulations:
   (a)    Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit shall not be eligible for membership in the Police Relief and Pension Fund established under the Ohio Revised Code;
   (b)    Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit shall not be in the classified service of the City;
   (c)    Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit shall not have the power of arrest;
   (d)    EDITOR’S NOTE: Former subsection (d) hereof was repealed by Ordinance 11- 2014.
   (e)    The maximum number of members of the Auxiliary Police Unit shall be twenty- five;
   (f)    Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit may use their own automobiles and radio equipment, without financial cost or charge to the City, when so authorized under the rules and regulations prescribed by the Director of Public Service and Safety;

   (g)    Upon presentation of the required vouchers and purchase orders to the City Auditor, members of the Police Auxiliary Unit shall receive a clothing allowance not to exceed the authorized amount as established in the annual budget per year per member for the purchase of uniforms, consisting of shirt, trousers, jacket and cap. These uniforms shall meet the standards for the type and cost of such uniforms prescribed by the Director of Public Service and Safety.
   (h)    Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit shall meet such age, physical, mental and moral requirements as prescribed by the Director of Public Service and Safety, and shall be free of any convictions of felonies or misdemeanors involving moral turpitude.
   Each member of the Auxiliary Police Unit shall be paid the sum of one dollar ($1.00) per
year by the City.
