Not later than one day after the impoundment of any dog the owner shall be notified, or if the owner of the dog is unknown, written notice shall be posted for three (3) days at three (3) or more conspicuous places, one of which shall be the city hall, describing the dog and the time of taking. The owner of any dog so impounded may reclaim such dog upon payment of the license fee, if unpaid, penalties, and all cost and charges incurred for impounding, keeping and maintenance of said dog, and for adoption or euthanasia. Said charges shall include a minimum fee for the first day of impoundment and an additional charge over the boarding fee for each following consecutive day of impoundment. The impounding charge shall be doubled each time that said dog is impounded, but no impounding charge for any dog shall be in excess of four (4) times the initial impound fee. All fees and charges shall be established by resolution adopted by the city council from time to time. (Ord. 2000-05, 7-24-2000)
