§ 32.125 DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS.
   There is hereby created the position of Director of Public Works, an executive position of the city. The Director of Public Works shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council annually at or near the beginning of the fiscal year. The Director of Public Works shall be responsible for the supervision and management of the Water and Sewer Department, the Street Department, all public works projects and such other duties presented by the Mayor and the City Council. The Director of Public Works shall possess and maintain the qualifications and credentials required by law and the city. The Director of Public Works shall be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, managing, supervising and coordinating the activities of the Public Works Department consisting of the Water and Sewer Department and the Street Department. The Director of Public Works shall report to the City Administrator. The Director of Public Works shall attend all City Council meetings and other meetings as requested by the Mayor or the City Administrator or as necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Any references to Street Superintendent, Water and Sewer Superintendent, Superintendent of Public Works and Utility Superintendent in the Code of Ordinances shall hereinafter be interpreted to refer to the Director of Public Works or his or her designee.
