(a) Heating units of conventional construction shall be mounted on floors of fireproof construction.
(b) Forced warm air furnace units in which the fan chamber is constructed integrally with the unit, occupying the entire area and forming a well-ventilated air space between the furnace and the floor of eighteen inches or more in height, similar approved furnaces, space heaters, and stoves on legs providing a clear space of not less than six inches may be mounted on wood floors protected with not less than one-quarter inch asbestos with not less than #24 U.S. gauge sheet metal.
