(a) The position of Bailiff is established for the Trenton Mayor’s Court. Employees in this position shall be part-time employees, and subject to all city ordinances pertaining to employment and benefits, subject to any differences defined in this section.
(b) The Bailiff shall be appointed by the Mayor and shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor.
(c) The Bailiff's duties shall include his or her direction and assistance in the orderly transaction of Court business and helping to maintain the proper Court decorum and all other such duties as the Mayor may require of the Bailiff.
(d) The Bailiff of the Mayor’s Court shall be paid at the rate previously established by ordinance for the Assistant Bailiff, but on an annual basis of $1,560, to be paid in equal monthly installments of $130 per month.
(1) The Assistant Bailiff position of the Mayor’s Court shall be discontinued.
(2) The Bailiff will be paid at the aforementioned rate regardless of the number of Court sessions held. The Bailiff will only be paid for those court sessions worked, prorated on the basis of the number of court sessions in the month.
(3) Alternates for Bailiff may be assigned by the Mayor, and shall be paid on a pro-rata monthly basis, subject to the number of court sessions held that month.
(e) Additional Special Bailiff positions may be established, provided that anyone hired into those positions shall be volunteers and not paid.
