280.02 APPOINTMENT OF COUNSEL FOR INDIGENT DEFENDANTS.
   (a)   The Mayor is hereby authorized to appoint counsel for any defendant appearing in the Trenton Mayor's Court after determining that such defendant is without sufficient funds or assets to employ counsel.
   (b)   Any defendant who is indigent and requests counsel to represent him or her in Trenton Mayor's Court shall have counsel appointed by the Mayor or other presiding officer in accordance with the laws of the United States and the State of Ohio and the ordinances of the City. Any such attorney shall be paid one hundred dollars ($100.00) per case, or a maximum of two hundred dollars ($200.00) per Court session, in the event said attorney represents more than 2 indigent defendants.
   (c)   Upon certification by the Mayor that counsel has been appointed and the case has been disposed of, the Treasurer shall pay such counsel.
