228.02 AUXILIARY POLICE UNIT.
   (a)   There is hereby established an Auxiliary Police Unit in the City.
   (b)   The number of Auxiliary Police Officers in the Unit shall not exceed the number of regular police officers.
   (c)   The services of such Auxiliary Police Officers shall be voluntary except that they shall be paid the sum of one dollar ($1.00) during each calendar year of employment.
   (d)   The selection of Auxiliary Police Officers shall be made on the same basis as the recruitment of regular personnel to the Police Division, but appointees shall be in the unclassified service of the City.
   (e)   The Chief of Police, with the approval of the Safety Director, shall establish rules and regulations for the organization, training, administration, control and conduct of the Auxiliary Police Unit.
