(A) Creation of office. There is hereby created the office of Code Enforcement Officer, who shall be appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees.
(B) Duties.
(1) It shall be the duty of the Code Enforcement Officer to enforce all the provisions of the zoning ordinance and amendments thereto.
(2) The Code Enforcement Officer shall be the enforcing officer for the Board of Health and shall see to the enforcement of all rules of the Board of Health. The Code Enforcement Officer shall examine all cases of contagious diseases arising in the village and shall see to the enforcement of quarantine rules and determine the time for raising quarantine. The Code Enforcement Officer shall give to the Board information and advice concerning the health of the village and shall perform such other duties as may be assigned to him or her by the Board.
(3) It shall be the duty of the Code Enforcement Officer to see to the enforcement of all ordinance provisions relating to buildings and to inspect all building or structures being erected or altered, as frequently as may be necessary to ensure compliance with the village ordinances.
(a) Ex-officio Plumbing Inspector. The Code Enforcement Officer shall act as ex-officio Plumbing Inspector and shall enforce all provisions of the ordinances relating to plumbing and plumbing equipment and to make such inspections and perform such tests as may be necessary in the enforcement of such ordinances.
(b) Ex-officio Electrical Inspector. The Code Enforcement Officer shall act as ex-officio Electrical Inspector and shall enforce all ordinances and provisions relating to electrical signs, electrical wiring and electrically-operated equipment. He or she shall have the power to cause the current in any wire or conduit to be turned off whenever this is necessary in an emergency for the protection of life or property.
(4) The Code Enforcement Officer shall perform such additional duties as may be assigned to him or her by the President and Board of Trustees.
(C) Powers. The Code Enforcement Officer shall have the powers and exercise the functions necessary for such enforcement which are delegated to him or her by statute or ordinance.
