§ 90.019 DUTIES OF POLICE DEPARTMENT.
   Upon being notified that a dog or cat has bitten any person or is suspected of suffering from rabies, the Police Department shall:
   (A)   When the owner of the dog or cat is known, notify such owner and direct such owner to deliver up the dog or cat to a licensed veterinary hospital for observation;
   (B)   When the owner of the dog or cat is unknown, immediately take up the dog or cat and confine the dog or cat to a licensed veterinary hospital for observation; or
   (C)   When the dog or cat is taken up under the provisions of division (B) above, notify the owner, if known, of the confinement of such dog or cat within seven days after the confinement begins or the identity of the owner is discovered.
