Subject to the limitations set forth in this chapter, any person 21 years of age or above with a valid driver’s license may operate a golf cart or UTV on any street or highway under the jurisdiction of the village. This section shall not be construed as granting permission for any person operating a golf cart or UTV to drive upon or cross any street or highway under the jurisdiction of Tremont Township, Elm Grove Township or Tazewell County, or to drive upon or cross any street or highway under the jurisdiction of the state’s Department of Transportation including, without limitation, Illinois Route 9. Any crossing of Illinois Route 9 will be safely completed at Harris Street at Route 9 or at Locust Street at Route 9 as allowed by the Illinois Vehicle Code. No golf cart or UTV may be operated in the 100 or 200 block of South Sampson Street or the 100 block of West Walnut Street.
