(A) Nonresidential customers. All new and existing nonresidential customers shall install a backflow prevention assembly approved by the borough. The cost of furnishing and installation of the assembly shall be the responsibility of the customer. The customer shall retain ownership of the assembly. A means of providing for thermal expansion shall also be included. Nonresidential customers shall be responsible for periodic testing and maintenance of the devices as required by the borough.
(B) Residential customers. All new residential customers, and existing residential customers installing appliances which will be connected to the public water system shall install a backflow prevention assembly approved by the borough. The device shall be installed directly after the meter and in a configuration specified and approved by the borough. The customer shall retain ownership of the assembly. A thermal expansion tank shall be installed by the customer, before or at the same time that a water meter and backflow preventer is installed.
