No license receipt shall be sold or used by the city clerk for any period of time exceeding the time printed or written on the license receipt, and no person required to be licensed shall pay any sum of money to the city clerk for a license without demanding and receiving a license receipt, on which is printed or written the time for which the license is issued and the amount paid thereof.
