Every loaf of bread made or procured for the purpose of sale, sold, offered or exposed for sale within the City shall weigh a pound avoirdupois, except as hereinafter provided, and such loaf shall be considered the standard loaf in the City. Bread may also be made or exposed for sale in one-pound, one-and-one-half pound, two-pound, two-and-one-half pound, three-pound, three-and-one-half pound, four-pound, four-and-one-half pound, five-pound, five-and-one-half pound or six-pound loaves and in no other way. Every loaf of bread made or procured for the purpose of sale, sold, offered or exposed for sale in the City shall have affixed thereon in a conspicuous place a label at least one inch square or if round at least one inch in diameter, upon which label there shall be printed in black ink upon white paper from type not smaller or making a less conspicuous letter than the type commonly known as twelve point fullface Gothic capital letters and figure, the weight of the loaf, whether the loaf is a standard loaf or not, marked in terms of pounds as follows: 16 ounces or more and less than 24 ounces shall be labeled one pound; 24 ounces or more and less than 32 ounces shall be labeled 1 1/2 pounds; 32 ounces or more and less than 40 ounces shall be labeled 2 pounds; 40 ounces or more and less than 48 ounces shall be labeled 2 1/2 pounds; 48 ounces or more and less than 56 ounces shall be labeled 3 pounds; 56 ounces or more and less than 64 ounces shall be labeled 3 1/2 pounds; 64 ounces or more and less than 72 ounces shall be labeled 4 pounds; 72 ounces or more and less than 80 ounces shall be labeled 4 1/2 pounds; 80 ounces or more and less than 88 ounces shall be labeled 5 pounds; 88 ounces or more and less than 96 ounces shall be labeled 5 1/2 pounds; 96 ounces or more and less than 104 ounces shall be labeled 6 pounds. In no instance shall the weight of the loaf be stated in terms of ounces. The business name and address of the maker, baker or manufacturer of the loaf shall also be printed on each label.
