No applicant shall be under the minimum legal age for employment as established by law at the time of making application for admission to an examination. Age limits designated to secure persons physically and otherwise qualified for certain classes of employment may be fixed by the Commission for any examination.
A. No person shall be eligible to receive original appointment as a Fire Fighter unless the person has reached the age of eighteen (18). No person age forty (40) or older at the final closing date for the Civil Service examination shall be eligible to receive an original appointment to the position of Fire Fighter.
B. No person shall be eligible to receive original appointment as a Police Officer unless the person has reached the age of twenty-one (21). No person age forty (40) or older at the final closing date for the Civil Service examination shall be eligible to receive an original appointment to the position of Police Officer.
C. No person age forty (40) or older at the time of appointment (first day of work with the Toledo Police Department) shall be eligible to receive a lateral appointment to the position of Police Officer.
