(a) The Commissioner of Building Inspection shall keep careful and comprehensive records of applications; of registrations, licenses, permits, or certificates issued; of inspections or investigations made, or reports rendered and of notices or orders issued. He shall retain these records on file so long as required by the City's public records policy.
(b) All such records shall be open to public inspection for and at reasonable hours, but the original records shall not be removed from the Division of Building Inspection.
