§ 70.98  TRAFFIC VIOLATION TAGS.
   (A)   Police officers shall be provided with tags which may be used for the purpose of giving due notice to owners, drivers, and operators of automobiles, and other vehicles, of the violation of any of the provisions of this chapter.  No owner, driver, or operator, when a tag has been given him or her personally by a police officer or has been attached to the vehicle which he or she is or has been driving, using, or parking in violation of any provision of this chapter, shall fail to comply strictly with the instructions and directions set forth in the tag.
   (B)   The citation tag, when given personally to the owner, driver, or operator, or when attached to a vehicle in a conspicuous place, shall be legal and sufficient summons and service thereof upon the owner, driver, or operator of the vehicle, to appear at the designated place, day, and hour and for purposes as specified thereon.  However, this section shall not abridge the power of police officers to arrest for crimes and misdemeanors.
   (C)   Attaching a tag to a vehicle shall not be construed as a bar to impounding the vehicle pursuant to this chapter.
