For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
PLANNED ANNUAL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. Includes the following:
(1) Cleaning the tank by pumping out the solids from inside the tank and hosing down the tank screen and pump end area of the tank;
(2) Check tank for visible ground water leaking into the tank;
(3) Hosing down the pump and checking the pump for a plugged suction and debris in the impeller but not disassembly of any parts;
(4) Check float switches for operation and clean by hosing down as needed;
(5) Observe the check valve is operating and the area around the tank and lateral line to the main line for wet sports or visible leaks; and
(6) Check tank, pump and control panel for visible damage, corrosion or conditions which could lead to operational problems.
PROPERTIES. Any lot on which is situated an industrial, commercial or residential structure.
PRESSURE SEWER SYSTEM. A privately-owned, operated and maintained sewer system that feeds to a pressure main line owned and operated by the city. A PRESSURE SEWER SYSTEM includes pumps, tanks, valves, fittings, mainline connectors, lateral lines, pump stations, control panels and any associated sewer components located on public or private property. A PRESSURE SEWER SYSTEM does not include pressure main lines that the city owns and operates.
STEP SYSTEM (SEPTIC TANK EFFLUENT PUMPING). Sewage that is conveyed by gravity to a septic tank through a building service lateral. Liquid waste is pumped under pressure to the public sewer system. Solid waste will remain in the tank.
