(a) It shall be the duty of the City Engineer to oversee all surveys, plats, plans and specifications for all improvements to be made relative to public service and safety. He shall oversee the surveying and setting of all grade stakes or other stakes as may be required, and shall also perform all such duties as are required by State laws and City ordinances, or as are assigned by the City Administrator. (b) The City Engineer shall have under his charge and keeping all plats, surveys, books, papers and instruments pertaining to his office and shall promptly turn the same over to his successor. (1951 Code Sec. 2.54)
