§ 32.19 HOLIDAYS.
   (A)   The town shall observe the following holidays: one half day New Year's Eve; New Year's Day; Good Friday; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Veterans' Day; Thanksgiving Day; the day after Thanksgiving; one half day Christmas Eve; and Christmas Day. These holidays shall be paid holidays for all town employees. Should the holiday fall on a Sunday, the following Monday will be observed as the holiday, and if any of these holidays fall on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be observed as a holiday.
   (B)   (1)   Due to the nature of the work required in some departments of the town, holidays may be required to be worked.
      (2)   If an employee is required to work a holiday, such employee shall receive compensatory time off which may be taken in the same week as the holiday itself.
      (3)   Such holiday time shall not be accumulated. Any employee absent on the day preceding or following a holiday will not receive compensation for such holiday unless the absence is excused. Excused absences shall consist of vacation, sick leave, bereavement leave or other authorized leave.
