(A) For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
STOP. The vehicle is not moving; to cease from any motion or action.
YIELD. To give way to another vehicle.
(B) The driver of a vehicle shall stop as required at the entrance to a through street and shall yield the right-of-way to other vehicles which have entered the intersection from such through street or which are approaching so closely on such through street as to constitute an immediate hazard, but such driver having so yielded may proceed and the drivers of all other vehicles approaching the intersection on such through street shall yield the right-of-way to the vehicle so proceeding into or across the through street.
(C) Every driver of a vehicle shall stop or yield in obedience to any such sign as the case may be, before entering such intersection, except when directed to proceed by a police officer or traffic-control signal.
