The 1987 election for Mayor and Council members shall be held on the second Tuesday of May between the hours of seven o’clock (7:00) A.M. and seven o’clock (7:00) P.M., local time, at the Thayne Town Hall, or at such other polling place or places as shall be designated by the Town Clerk. Thereafter, elections for Mayor and Council members shall be held on the Tuesday next following the first Monday in November of each even numbered year. Such elections shall be held between the hours of seven o’clock (7:00) A.M. and seven o’clock (7:00) P.M., local time, at the Town Hall and/or at such other polling place or places as shall be designated by the Town Clerk. The term of the Mayor who was elected in May 1987, is hereby extended by interim appointment until January 1, 1990, or until his successor is elected and qualified. The terms of the two (2) Council members elected in the May 1987 election are hereby extended by interim appointment until January 1, 1992, or until their successors are elected and qualified. The Mayor shall serve a two (2) year term of office and each Council member shall serve a four (4) year term of office.
