1-6-2: REMOVAL FOR FAILURE TO ATTEND REGULAR MEETINGS:
   A.   Charter Ordinance Authority: This charter ordinance is adopted pursuant to the authority vested in cities and towns of the State of Wyoming by article 13, section 1(c) of the Wyoming Constitution.

   B.   Removal Of Mayor Or Council Member: The Mayor or any Council member shall be automatically removed from office for failure to attend three (3) regularly scheduled meetings of the Town Council within any calendar year, without reasonable cause. Reasonable cause shall be determined by a majority vote of the Mayor and Town Council members. Removal pursuant to the provisions of this charter ordinance shall take effect at one minute past twelve o’clock (12:01) A.M. on the day following the third meeting in any calendar year at which the Mayor or Town Council member failed to attend without providing a reasonable excuse for failure to attend.

   C.   Appointment To Fill Vacancy: When a vacancy occurs in the Office of Mayor or Council member in the event of removal pursuant to the provisions of this charter ordinance, the governing body shall appoint an eligible person to the office who shall serve until his or her successor is elected in the next general Municipal election and qualified, except that a vacancy in the Office of Mayor shall be filled only from the governing body.

   D.   Passage, Public And Effective Date: After passage and approval by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of all members of the Town Council, this ordinance shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the Town of Thayne once a week for two (2) consecutive weeks, and shall become effective sixty (60) days after the date of final publication.
