7-1-6: SERVICE PIPES:
   A.   Specifications:
      1.   All service pipes from the point of union with the water main to the meter shall be of type K copper or SDR 17 PVC, meeting or exceeding the requirements of ANSI/ASTM D2241-78 (Wyoming public works specifies only type K copper per federal specification WW-T-799 or ASTM B88-62, or polyethylene [PE] pressure pipe, tubing and fittings, 1/2 inch through 3 inch. All residential services shall be 3/4 inch to 1 inch unless a specific exception is granted. PE pipe shall be pressure tubing conforming to table 6 of said specification. Tubing shall be class 160 with a DR of 9.0 or class 200 with a DR of 7.3.) Should any consumer fail, neglect or refuse to replace his service pipe with the above specified after ten (10) days' notice in writing to do so, such service pipe may be cut off until the specified service pipe is installed. Every service pipe shall be laid in such manner as to prevent rupture by settling.
      2.   This section applies to all new construction, change of status, service breaks and whenever a consumer goes inactive or requires an upgrade, except for seasonal actions. Whenever any of the above conditions occur, it is the intent of the town council to require that the service be in compliance with this chapter.
   B.   Depth Of Trench: All service pipes must be laid at a minimum depth of six feet (6'), unless otherwise ordered by the chief operator or his designee and in all cases shall be so protected so as to prevent rupture by freezing. (Ord. 179, 10-5-2010)
