§ 38.02 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   AIR RAID PERIOD. That interval of time between the sounding of a public air raid warning signal and the sounding of a public all clear signal;
   AIR RAID WARDEN. Any person officially appointed and designated as the same by the Chief of Police, subject to the approval of the Mayor, and while wearing the official Air Raid Warden insignia or uniform. The term AIR RAID WARDEN shall also mean and comprehend any Deputy Air Raid Warden officially appointed by the appointing authority of the city. The air raid wardens shall serve without pay and shall not be considered employees of the city.
   AIR RAID WARNING. A public signal indicating the danger of immediate air attack, which shall consist of the display of lights with a hooded red lens at the point or points designated by the Chief of Police, provided that the red light or lights are not so displayed as to be visible from operating aircraft and shall conform with all military regulations. The signal may be sounded by the use of a siren and shall consist of the sounding of five distinct blasts of 15 seconds each to be repeated at four-minute intervals, utilizing a siren or a steam whistle. However, it is provided that it shall be the duty of the Chief of Police, with the consent of the Mayor, to adopt regulations specifying the type of warning herein specified that shall be utilized in this city.
   ALL CLEAR. The public signal indicating that immediate danger of an air attack has passed, which shall consist of the display of a light behind a hooded white or clear lens at points designated by the Chief of Police, provided that the hooded lights are not so displayed as to be visible to operating aircraft, and provided further that the display of the lights shall conform to all military regulations. The ALL CLEAR signal shall also consist of the sounding of a short emission from a siren of not exceeding 45 seconds in length, repeated at intervals of not less than four minutes; or may consist of the sounding of a steam whistle for the same length of time at the same intervals. However, it is further provided that it shall be the duty of the Chief of Police, with the consent of the Mayor, to adopt regulations specifying the type of warning herein specified that shall be utilized in this city.
   AUXILIARY FIREMAN. Any person officially appointed and designated as the same by the authority which has the power to appoint and control the regular members of the City Fire Department, and while wearing the official auxiliary fireman insignia or uniform. The auxiliary fireman shall serve without pay and shall not be considered employees of the city.
   AUXILIARY POLICEMAN. Any person officially appointed and designated as the same by the same authority which has the power to appoint and control the regular members of the City Police Department, and while wearing the official auxiliary policeman insignia or uniform. The auxiliary policemen shall serve without pay and shall not be considered employees of the city.
   BLACKOUT. That interval of night time occurring within a period designated by an order of the Chief of Police;
   CHIEF OF POLICE. The Chief of Police of Tell City, Indiana.
   EMERGENCY. That period of time between any proclamation by the Mayor that an emergency exists, and the proclamation that the emergency has ceased to exist.
   MAYOR. The Mayor of Tell City, Indiana.
   PERSON. Includes every individual, person, co-partnership, corporation, company, association, or any other group or combination acting as a unit.
