5.76.010: DEFINITION:
ACCESSORY DWELLING UNIT (ADU), INTERNAL: A self-contained dwelling unit that is incorporated within the single-family dwelling that maintains complete independent living facilities for one family (see definition of “Family”), including permanent provisions for living, sleeping, eating, cooking, and sanitation (i.e., separate kitchen). An internal ADU is part of the single-family dwelling and is not a duplex or multi-family unit.
RENTAL DWELLING UNIT: A building or portion of a building that is used or designated for use as a home or residence by one or more persons and available to be rented, loaned, leased, or hired out, with or without consideration, for a period of one month or longer or arranged, designed, or built to be rented, loaned, leased, or hired out for a period of one month or longer, whether or not an owner, agent, or rental manager is in residence.
