14.56.030: DEFINITIONS:
For the purpose of this chapter, the following words shall have the following meanings:
ATHLETIC EVENT: An organized competitive or recreational event in which a group of people collectively engage in a sport or form of physical exercise, including, but not limited to, running, jogging, walking, bicycling or skating, which interferes with the normal flow of traffic or requires the partial or full closure of any street located in the city.
BLOCK PARTY OR NEIGHBORHOOD GATHERING: A gathering of one or more adjacent neighborhoods, for the primary purpose of socializing and interacting with neighbors, which requires the partial or full closure of any street located in the city, and does not qualify as a mass gathering.
ENTERTAINMENT EVENT: An organized event having as its primary purpose the entertainment or amusement of a group of people, including, but not limited to, parades, carnivals, fairs, concerts, which interferes with the normal flow of traffic or requires the partial or full closure of any street located in the city.
MASS GATHERING: An organized event, including, but not limited to, festivals, sporting events, religious events, fairs, or concerts, held on any street located in the city, or at any city or county park located within Taylorsville, which includes product vendors, or food or beverage concessions, or which has an anticipated peak crowd of over two hundred fifty (250) persons.
POLITICAL EVENT: An organized event, not including an athletic or entertainment event, having as its primary purpose the exercise of expressive activities of a political nature, including, but not limited to, speechmaking, picketing, protesting, marching, demonstrating or debating public issues, on any street located in the city.
SPECIAL EVENT: Any athletic event, entertainment event, block party or neighborhood gathering or mass gathering, whether held for profit, nonprofit or charitable purposes, but does not include a political event or an organized athletic league that is sponsored by or organized in conjunction with Salt Lake County parks and recreation.
