For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
CERTIFICATE. The certificate of public convenience and necessity granted by the Town Board of Commissioners to engage in the taxicab business as provided in this chapter.
DRIVER. Includes every person in charge of or operating a taxicab.
OWNER. Includes any person having control of the operation or maintenance and collection of the revenue of taxicabs.
PERSON. Includes both the singular and plural and shall mean and include any person, firm, corporation, association, partnership, or society.
STREET. Includes any street, alley, avenue, lane, public place, or highway within five miles thereof at any point.
TAXICAB. Includes any vehicle for hire for the purpose of transporting passengers upon the streets, except vehicles operating over a fixed route and between fixed termini.
WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE TOWN. All of the territory within the corporate limits of the town and all of the territory outside of the town within five miles of the corporate limits thereof at any point.
